Todd Fortier

Todd Fortier originally hails from the Midwest and holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Duquesne University. There he studied under Claudia Pinza, daughter of famed Metropolitan Opera Bass Ezio Pinza. After graduate school, he spent many years in NYC performing in both opera and musical theater. After 8 years, he returned to the midwest and started a private voice studio. While there he had a flourishing voice studio. He served as adjunct faculty teaching private voice at Pius XI High School in Milwaukee. He also was adjunct teacher of voice at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside for the 2020/21 school year. During that time, his student Elise Sparks was a finalist in the KCACTF Musical Theater Awards.

Todd is a full member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) where his students have been finalists and award winners in the Wisconsin Chapter NATS auditions as well as Regional and National Finalists in both classical and musical theater divisions for the last 13 years. During his tenure in Wisconsin, many of Todd’s students received top honors at WSMA State Solo and Ensemble and were also accepted into the State Honors Choir as well. Some of the programs his students have been accepted into are Berklee School of Music, Indiana University, Roosevelt University, Luther College, Northwestern University, UW-Madison, Baldwin-Wallace University, NYU, Florida State University, and Carnegie Melon University with emphasis in Classical, Musical Theater, and Contemporary Music receiving top voice scholarships at some of these schools.

Todd believes in focusing on the “whole” singer with a holistic approach using both body mapping and Alexander Technique. He teaches classical, musical theater and contemporary styles as well. Todd also enjoys working with voices that need rehabilitation due to various vocal pathologies, injuries, and traumas.
