Clockwork is an award-winning San Francisco based vocal quartet with a signature sound and style. Rooted in the tradition of great vocal jazz groups such as the Hi-Lo's and Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, the Clockwork "sound" draws inspiration from all styles. Clockwork is Angie Doctor, Juliet Green, Adam Blankman and Paul Cingolani; joined by a stellar band: Colin Hogan, piano; Aaron Germain, bass; Phil Hawkins, drums/percussion; John Calloway, flute/percussion.
Trio Falso Baiano joins Portland pianist Kerry Politzer for a special evening of choro, maxixe, bossa nova and brazilian jazz! A Bay Area group for over 20 years, Falso Baiano explores traditional choro and contemporary brazilian jazz influences. Creating her signature sound in New York City, Kerry Politzer is a mainstay on the Portland Brazilian jazz and choro scene, participating in the annual "Dia de Choro." Falso Baiano is thrilled about this collaboration, after Kerry sat in with them on a couple of songs last year.
Tawanda, winner of the Sarah Vaughan Jazz Vocal Competition – an honor bestowed on Samara Joy and Jazzmeia Horn – teams up with critically-acclaimed pianist Gabriel Schillinger-Hyman and his trio to present a wide-ranging program with music from Chick Corea and Chaka Khan to sweeping ballads by Billy Strayhorn, hard-driving burners by Betty Carter, and a handful of original compositions.
Pianist Larry Vuckovich celebrates his 90th birthday! He has worked, toured, and recorded with such greats as Red Norvo, Cab Calloway, Dexter Gordon, Milt Jackson, Jon Hendricks, Vince Guaraldi and many more. A versatile musician, Larry covers a wide range of styles, including Bebop, Afro-Cuban Latin jazz, blues and gospel, funky boogaloo, as well as sounds from the Balkans and Middle East. What has become tradition, he will be joined by Bay Area hottest jazz guitarist Kai Lyons. Don't miss this milestone with this Dynamic Duo!
Film noir meets E4TT’s much-loved “Emigres & Exiles in Hollywood” series! Featuring new tributes to film noir by modern movie mavens Germaine Franco (Encanto)and Lars Deutsch (The Passenger), paired with music by mid-century Hollywood emigre composers: Schoenberg’s stunning Verklaerte Nacht arr. for piano trio, plus works by Mikós Rózsa, Eugene Zador, and Erich Zeisl. Performed by E4TT with Jessica Folson, violin.
