Norman Landsberg: A Musical Tribute

Join us in celebrating the life of Norman Landsberg (1949 - 2023). He was the trusted store manager at Piedmont Piano Company for over two decades and ran just about all of our concerts during that time.

The Ed McClary Trio will be the house band. Bring your instruments and sit in, say a few words about Norman, or just come to enjoy the music. We look forward to seeing you.

There will be light snacks and refreshments.

Space is limited for this event. RSVP is required.

NORMAN LANDSBERG (August 20, 1949 – October 28, 2023)
Pianist and composer Norman Landsberg had a colorful career in music before joining the Piedmont Piano Company staff in 1998. He was a founding member of the rock group Mountain, musical director for the Pointer Sisters, and half of the piano duo Landsberg & Yount, among other musical pursuits. In later years, he realized a long term dream when he assumed the persona of bandleader Manny Moka, arranging and recording two albums with the Band on Fire, his Latin Funk Jazz Big Band that also performed at various jazz venues and festivals.

Norman was a devoted and loyal member of our PPC family. He deeply loved the piano store and its employees. For over twenty years, he provided trusted advice to customers and attended and managed virtually every one of our in-store concerts, numbering over a thousand in total. When the pandemic shut our doors in early 2020 Norman decided it was time to retire. He spent much of his time at his home in San Francisco, making music. After battling brain cancer for a year, we lost this remarkable talent, friend, and colleague in 2023.
