TERESA TAM
As a lifelong musician from Taiwan who began playing violin as a child, I fell in love with singing when I started singing with the Taipei Philharmonic Chorus as a preteen. I continued my vocal and violin studies after moving to the United States. My first professional debut was with the American Bach Soloist as a soprano soloist while pursuing my undergraduate degree at UC Davis. After obtaining my Masters in Vocal Performance from Boston University, I was diagnosed with a devastating vocal cord injury. With this significant setback, I shifted my career path towards Photography. After a decade off the stage, I gained deeper physical awareness and insights while rehabbing my voice with the help of Estill Voice Training. Having rediscovered the use of my singing voice, I am now able to explore various genres of music with my vocal instrument and approach each piece with greater precision, intention, and purpose. Though classically trained, my musical interests run the gamut from Jazz to Tango and many more in between. Since restarting my Argentine Tango dancing in 2018, I also dove into the passionate world of Tango music. Since then I have had the pleasure to collaborate with numerous Tango musicians across the US such as Corazón Tango, Fuego Tango, Las Almas Tango, Charles Gorczynski Tango ensemble, and my own Duo Telar with Argentine Tango guitarist Maxi Larrea. teresatammusic.com | instagram.com/teresatam.sing
