Pianist Hannah Mayer returns with her unique quartet – with Laurel Fink on tenor saxophone, Gus Hurteau on vibraphone, and Isaac Coyle on bass – showcasing a variety of original music and beloved standards, as well as some selections from Hannah’s recently released debut album paying tribute to the Broadway composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim!

HANNAH MAYER
Hannah Mayer is a pianist and composer from the El Cerrito, currently attending Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD. Hannah has been a member of Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead, NYO Jazz, and the SFJAZZ High School All-Stars, and was a YoungArts winner in jazz piano and jazz composition. Hannah has had the honor of performing alongside Melissa Aldana, Sean Jones, Warren Wolf, Etienne Charles, Tim Green, Charenée Wade, and Sharel Cassity, among others. Hannah’s debut album, “Hannah Mayer & Friends Play Sondheim” was recently released on November 3rd, and it captures Hannah’s drive to bridge improvised music with the work of the great Broadway composers Hannah has been inspired by while growing up.

LAUREL FINK
Laurel Fink is a young saxophonist known for her tone, thought-provoking solos, and versatility in styles ranging from jazz to funk, fusion, hip hop and reggae. Born and raised in Berkeley, California, Laurel thrived in Berkeley High School’s renowned jazz program. She won a total of seven soloist awards from its festival competitions, and as a freshman in college received a YoungArts Honorable Mention award. Laurel performs regularly in the Bay Area and Baltimore, most recently with Brazilian legend Arthur Verocai at the UC Theatre. She studies with Tim Green and Sean Jones at the Peabody Conservatory and runs her own private teaching studio.

GUS HURTEAU
Gus Hurteau is a vibraphonist and multi-instrumentalist from Oakland, California. Gus currently lives in New York City where he studies audio engineering at the City College of New York and plays around the city on vibes, drums, and electric bass. Some of Gus’s mentors include Mike Mainieri, Joe Locke, Warren Wolf, and Dave Ellis. In addition to jazz, Gus regularly has gigs playing RnB, gospel, metal, and hip hop, and also produces music for songwriters and rappers. Although he lives in New York, Gus maintains his relationship with Bay Area musicians and the Bay Area music scene as a whole.

ISAAC COYLE
Bassist and composer Isaac Coyle is originally from the town of El Cerrito. He began his musical studies on the guitar at age 7, but began to focus on the upright bass at 14 under the guidance of his mentor Howard Wiley. Soon he was studying privately with bassists Jeff Chambers, Ben Wolfe, and Earnest McCarty. Isaac graduated from the Berklee College of Music in May 2023 where he attended on a full tuition scholarship, studying with Linda Oh, Terri Lyne Carrington, and the late Ralph Peterson, as well as performing frequently with faculty Darren Barrett and Giorgi Mikadze.
