Brooklyn-based pianist Erik Deutsch brings an all-star band to the piano store to celebrate the release of his 6th album Falling Flowers, a funky, energetic romp through the worlds of jazz, soul, blues, dub, and pop music. His playing and compositions are unmistakably personal and unique. For this special concert, Erik will be joined by Bay Area musicians (and friends) Scott Amendola (drums), Miles Wick (bass), Raffi Garabedian (sax), and NYC vocalist Victoria Reed.

Having first come to prominence as a member of the funk-jazz collective Fat Mama, Brooklyn-based pianist Erik Deutsch has toured and recorded with jazz, pop, and country artists including Norah Jones, Charlie Hunter, Theo Bleckmann, Steven Bernstein, Rosanne Cash, Jim Campilongo, Citizen Cope, Allison Miller, Joe Russo, and Art Lande. Deutsch is also a full-time member of the legendary pioneering jamband Leftover Salmon (performing 100+ shows per year) and was a jazz piano professor at Jazz Camp West in 2016. hammerandstring.com
Scott Amendola is an American drummer in Berkeley, CA. Amendola was originally from New Jersey and studied at Berkelee School of Music in Boston. After relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area he came to popularity in the 1990s as a member of the grammy-nominated T.J. Kirk with Charlie Hunter and Will Bernard. He has led his own bands and trios which have included Nels Cline, Jeff Parker, Jenny Scheinman, and Ben Goldberg. He has toured with Bill Frisell, Mike Patton, and Laurie Anderson and recorded with Pat Martino, Jim Campilongo, and Nels Cline . Miles Wick is a bassist, singer, and songwriter with ties to New York City and San Francisco. His vast contribution to the Bay Area scene includes work with the area’s most innovative jazz musicians, poets, composers, and rock musicians. Saxophonist Raffi Garabedian hails from Berkeley, California, and attended Berkeley High School, where he was a member of their award-winning Jazz Ensemble. As a teenager, Raffi studied with Dayna Stephens, and went on to attend the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music from 2006-2010, where he received a Bachelors of Fine Arts and studied with such musicians as Bill McHenry, Mark Turner, Chris Cheek, Tony Malaby, and Andrew Cyrille. Raffi has recorded and performed with a variety of artists, including Jorge Rossy, Ben Street, and Dayna Stephens. He currently resides in Oakland working as a freelance musician and music educator in the Bay Area. raffigarabedianmusic.com
Born in Detroit but currently based in Brooklyn, rising star Victoria Reed spent the the past few years winning over audiences across the globe with her songbird voice and heartfelt lyrics. Her 2016 debut album Chariot was mixed by Grammy-winning producer Jim Scott and was released to rave reviews. Since then, she has headlined shows in across the country as well as in Paris, Barcelona, Lucerne, Mexico City, and Guadalajara and also supported Citizen Cope on a 30+ show national tour of intimate theatres. Victoria has been featured on the past two albums by jazz pianist Erik Deutsch (her husband) and collaborated with producer Roger Greenawalt and artist Autre Ne Veut.
