1893 Steinway Model D by Cottier & Co.
This unique instrument was built for Mrs. Thomas Alexander Scott of Philadelphia PA, the widow of Thomas A. Scott, president of the Pennsylvania Railroad. It was shipped in November of 1894 from the Steinway factory to the Stetson Agency, Steinway's representative in Philadelphia. From there it traveled to Cottier & Co. in New York City, renowned artisans of the era where a complete new case was designed featuring an inlaid floor and highly decorated case with exotic woods, painting and mother of pearl inlay. A fully modern instrument, the piano survives today in excellent urestored condition, retaining its original soundboard and genuine ivory keys. Size 9ft. Serial number 76000.
