Join world-class Los Angeles based vocalist Christine Guter and friends Adam Shulman, Joshua Thurston-Milgrom, and Dillon Vado for an evening of jazz and beyond! Christine enchants audiences with her impressive range and soaring melodies. Her vivid interpretation, deep groove, unique style, and  improvisational ability blend together seamlessly with grace and joy. This group highlights songs from the jazz tradition, as well as jazz-infused arrangements of classical and contemporary music. Come join us this Father’s Day!

CHRISTINE HELFERICH GUTER
Christine Helferich Guter is a jazz vocalist and studio singer in the Los Angeles area. She has a multitude of studio credits and has sung on dozens of Hollywood soundtracks including Disney’s “Wish,” Hocus Pocus 2, Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Mulan, Star Wars Rogue One, Sing!, Ready Player One, Star Trek Beyond, The Jungle Book, Jurassic World, Despicable Me 2, Men in Black 3, and Spiderman 3. She is a member of SAG-AFTRA and AFM.

An extraordinary educator, Christine is active internationally as a lecturer, adjudicator, and clinician, and has conducted numerous All-State Jazz and Honor Choirs. Christine is a member of the California Alliance for Jazz (CAJ), the Jazz Education Network (JEN), the California Music Educators Association (CMEA), and the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). She has served on the board of ACDA Western Division and the California Choral Directors Association as Vocal Jazz Chair. She is proud to be on the board for Jazz Education Abroad and is the jazz voice instructor for the Thailand Jazz Workshop.

In 2018, Christine received the prestigious “Jazz Education Achievement Award” from DownBeat Magazine, for her work as a jazz educator. She is currently the Director of Vocal Jazz at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University Long Beach where she teaches private jazz voice lessons, vocal styles classes, class jazz piano, jazz theory, and directs the university’s award-winning vocal jazz ensemble, Pacific Standard Time.

ADAM SHULMAN
Adam Shulman has been a staple of the San Francisco Jazz scene since he moved to the city in 2002. Before the move, Adam was a student at UC Santa Cruz where he studied with the great pianist Smith Dobson and the trumpeter/arranger Ray Brown. He received his degree in classical performance under the tutelage of the Russian pianist Maria Ezerova. Adam can also be seen as a sideman with countless bay area musicians and vocalists such as John Wiitala, Vince Lateano, Marcus Shelby, Anton Schwartz, Andrew Speight, Dayna Stephens, Erik Jekabson, Gary Brown, Patrick Wolff, Faye Carrol, Kellye Gray, Ian Cary, and Mike Zilber among many others. Adam has played as a sideman with internationally renowned artists Stefon Harris, Willie Jones III, Miguel Zenon, Mark Murphy, Alan Harris, Luciana Souza, Paula West, Ratzo Harris, Larry Coryell, Sean Jones, Grant Stewart, John Clayton, Bobby Hutcherson and with the Glen Miller Orchestra.

JOSH THURSTON-MILGROM
Josh Thurston-Milgrom is a jazz bassist and educator based in Palo Alto. He is Director of Instrumental Music at Castilleja School, Lecturer in Jazz Bass at Stanford University, and a longtime member of the faculty of Stanford Jazz Workshop and Jazz Camp West. He also teaches privately and performs frequently, both as a sideman and leading his own group.

DILLON VADO
As comfortable laying down Brazilian grooves on drum set as he is improvising with poets and dancers on vibraphone, Dillon Vado is a multi-instrumentalist/producer who makes music that is  honest and inspired. Dillon is known for making music that is dynamic and complex but also memorable and relatable. Equally delighted by bringing a sense of vitality and spark to his friends' projects, or leading his own musical vision on stage, Dillon performs all over the Bay Area and West Coast, including a once a month residency at Keys Jazz Bistro in San Francisco’s historic North Beach. He can be found playing vibes with many of his own projects including Heart Matter with Amy D,  vibes trio with many esteemed colleagues including Dave King and Kanoa Mendenhall, and drumming/composing for Never Weather, who released their debut album, Blissonance, on Ridgeway Records in 2020.
