The San Francisco Ballet Orchestra has been recognized internationally as one of the top Ballet Orchestras in the world. Formed in 1976, they have recorded numerous CDs including works of Debussy, Delibes, Shostakovich Cello Concerto with Zuill Bailey, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker including a complete DVD of Helgi Tomasson's production, and Weber's Clarinet Concerti with Alexander Filterstein in which the SF Chronicle's Joshua Kosman said, "The orchestral playing is vibrant and wonderfully detailed." The New York Times recently described the SF Ballet Orchestra's playing as "luscious…The San Francisco Ballet Orchestra is in excellent shape." Many of the musicians of the SF Ballet Orchestra are also avid chamber musicians who perform in such groups as New Century Chamber Orchestra, Earplay, the Sun Quartet, Stanford Woodwind Quintet, Eos Ensemble, and Bay Brass among others. sfballet.org
