Pianist Tamir Hendelman returns to the piano store for a solo program of standards, originals and compositions by jazz masters. Known for his lyrical tone, sense of swing, dynamic range and imaginative re-conceptions of jazz standards, Tamir brings spontaneity and nuanced musical storytelling to his solo concerts. Join him for this program filled with gems from the Great American Songbook, the jazz canon and his own fertile imagination.

TAMIR HENDELMAN
Award-winning jazz pianist-composer Tamir Hendelman is known for his dynamic and sensitive approach at the piano and his swinging and imaginative arrangements for own trio and over the years within the Jeff Hamilton Trio. He has performed with some of the world’s great singers, from Natalie Cole to Barbra Streisand, Roberta Gambarini to Tierney Sutton. A member of the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra since 2001, he has performed, recorded or arranged for artists ranging from Sean Jones, Benny Golson, Eddie Henderson, Houston Person, Richard Galliano, Claudio Roditi, Graham Dechter, Wycliffe Gordon and Scott Hamilton.

Tamir Hendelman has been a featured soloist with the Winston-Salem Symphony and Arizona Musicfest Symphonies on Rhapsody In Blue and in 2018 performed a special tribute to Jobim in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

When Tamir Hendelman premiered John Clayton’s version of Oscar Peterson’s Canadiana Suite in 2001, Mr. Peterson wrote: “It was a satisfying but strange feeling... to hear a new young voice make some exhilarating and thoughtful solos in the spaces I used to occupy in those pieces…”

A Yamaha artist, Tamir Hendelman has been a lecturer at UCLA’s Global Jazz Studies department since 2005 and teaches masterclasses and workshops across the world, from University of Indiana to London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama. tamirhendelman.com
