Hannah Mayer, Oliver Tuttle, & Aidan McCarthy
Pianist Hannah Mayer, trombonist Oliver Tuttle, and bassist Aidan McCarthy form a unique trio showcasing their interpretations on jazz standards, Brazilian music, show tunes, and original compositions. Currently pursuing musical and collegiate endeavors around the country, the trio began playing in this configuration during high school through a monthly residency at The Cheeseboard in Berkeley, and have been close friends and collaborators ever since.

HANNAH MAYER
Hannah Mayer is a 20-year-old pianist and composer from El Cerrito, California. Hannah is currently a student at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, studying with trumpet player Sean Jones. Outside of school, Hannah performs frequently around the Baltimore area at venues including the Keystone Korner, and leads a monthly concert series at An die Musik. Hannah was most recently selected as a member of the 2023 Betty Carter Jazz Ahead residency at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. In 2020, Hannah graduated from Oakland School for the Arts, and during high school was a member of Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz and the SFJAZZ High School All-Stars, and was also a YoungArts winner in jazz piano and jazz composition. Hannah has had the honor of performing alongside Chucho Valdes, Ingrid Jensen, Warren Wolf, Quincy Phillips, Tim Green, and Melissa Aldana, among others. Hannah enjoys musical theatre, and back in 2018 was the composer, music director, and accompanist for an original musical theatre adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s “All Summer in a Day,” performed at the Shotgun Players' Ashby Stage.
OLIVER TUTTLE
Oliver Tuttle grew up in the Upper Lakeshore neighborhood of Oakland. Growing up, there was no shortage of music in his life, seeing his parents play in the Quick City Jug Band and frequenting local music festivals. Oliver began to study trombone in the 4th grade at Crocker Highlands elementary school before moving on to Edna Brewer Middle school and finally attending Oakland School for the Arts. In middle school and high school, Oliver began to fall in love with Brazilian Music, Brass Bands, and Traditional Jazz, all of which have heavily influenced his approach to playing. In 2021 Oliver moved to New Orleans and began working with bands such as Jackie Blair and the Hot Biscuits, the Treme Brass Band, The Original Dixieland Jazz Band, Big Six Brass Band, The New Orleans Swamp Donkeys and many more. Oliver has also been playing with The California Honeydrops for the past two years, and has had the opportunity to play with them in Costa Rica, Alaska, and Mexico, as well as being featured on their last two albums. In 2022, Oliver also was able to play with Burnt Sugar The Arkestra at Carnegie Hall for the AfroFuturism Festival.
AIDAN McCARTHY
Aidan McCarthy is a bassist and composer hailing from Oakland, California. An impassioned musician of eclectic interests, Aidan plays a wide range of musical styles on the acoustic and electric bass. Growing up amidst the vibrant musical landscape of the Bay Area, Aidan cut his teeth on the local scene in middle school and high school, ultimately gaining admittance to nationally acclaimed jazz programs such as Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz Band and the Vail Summer Jazz Workshop. Aidan spent a year studying with John Clayton, the great bassist, composer, and pedagogue following Aidan’s participation in the Vail Summer Jazz Workshop. Aidan has performed professionally since his early teen years, performing with notable luminaries such as Miguel Zenon, Brian Lynch, Ingrid Jensen, Etienne Charles, Sean Jones, Carl Allen, Kemuel Roig, Faye Carol, etc. He has appeared at Bay Area venues such as Yoshi’s, SFJAZZ, Club Deluxe, The Soundroom, The Back Room, The California Jazz Conservatory, etc. Nationally, Aidan has appeared at Birdland and Dizzy’s Club Cola in New York City, Boxley’s Jazz Club in Seattle, The Faena Theater in Miami Florida, and Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, etc.
Aidan is currently attending the University of Miami, where he is pursuing a degree in media scoring and production and a minor in French language studies. At the University of Miami, he is a member of the esteemed Stamps Jazz Quintet. Aidan is a part of a folk adjacent indie rock band called Loveseat, and a part of Raquel Lily’s band, a Miami based rock pop artist.
