LIVE at Piedmont Piano Company
Kristin Korb
After two years of pandemic lockdown in Denmark, jazz bassist and vocalist Kristin Korb is returning to Northern California with a new project that departs from her traditional song well and dives deep into the exploration of pop tunes that burst with Korb’s trademark exuberance and inspired arrangements. Joining her for this concert is her LA-based partner in time Andy Langham (piano) and Bay Area legend Mary Fettig (woodwinds).

KRISTIN KORB
Her laid-back personality resonates through her music – she has a way of taking anything and making it sound cool.” Lauren Bush, London Jazz News
Known for her hard swinging bass lines and sparkling vocals, Kristin Korb has established herself on the jazz stage as an exceptional artist, commanding both instruments with panache, engaging them simultaneously with an ease comparable to breathing. Discovered by bass legend Ray Brown, she has cultivated a career over the past 25 years recording, teaching, and touring all over the world.
With 11 recordings in her name, Korb has recorded with some of the top names in jazz such as Jeff Hamilton, Bruce Forman, Andy Martin, Larry Koonse, and Bob Sheppard. Her latest project “What If? / Why Not” features her Denmark based trio with Magnus Hjorth on piano and Snorre Kirk on drums and Scandinavian powerhouses Mathias Heise (harmonica), Karl-Martin Almqvist (saxophone) and Steen Nikolaj Hansen (trombone).
As an educator, Kristin was on the faculty of The University of Southern California and Azusa Pacific University before moving to Denmark (for love) in 2011. She frequently leads clinics and workshops as a part of her touring schedule and has taught at prestigious schools and camps such as Centrum-Port Townsend Jazz, Jazz Camp West, Golden Gate Bass Camp, University of North Texas, Fridhems Folkhögskola, and the International Society of Bassists Conventions. Her latest project is K-Nation, an online learning community for life-long learners interested in jazz, bass, singing, and connecting with other like minded individuals.
Kristin lives just outside Copenhagen, Denmark with her husband, Morten. When she’s not playing music, Kristin enjoys excursions into the local forest, maintaining her position as the family salad ninja, and exploring the world of wine tasting through travel. kristinkorb.com
