John Blues Boyd & The Greaseland All Stars perform original and classic blues material, with John’s larger-than-life throwback blues voice front and center. Band members Kid Andersen (guitar), Jim Pugh (piano), and Derrick “D’Mar” Martin (drums) are ALL nominated as instrumentalists at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis this year, and rounding out the group is the equally talented Endre Tarczy (bass) and young Nic Clark (harmonica). Classic blues in the style of BB King, Big Joe Turner, and Junior Parker will be served up with vigor and energy this evening.

John Blues Boyd is one of the very last true Blues singers who are still alive and still in peak form. Born in Greenville, MS, in the 1940s, his life story reads very much like that of any of the legends of the genre.
A late bloomer, John’s natural gift for blues singing and writing was not really put into full force until he retired from his job as a roofer. John’s wife Dona passed away in 2014 and at that point, John’s music was put front and center, and he released his debut “The Real Deal” on Little Village in 2016. His most recent effort, “What My Eyes Have Seen” for Gulf Coast Records, garnered him a Blues Music Award nomination for “Best Emerging Artist” at the age of 75!
