Join pianist Andrew Chen in a journey across various gems and treasures within the classical repertoire. This versatile program features works by Mozart, Chopin, Ravel, and the pianist himself, all united to bring hope amidst hardship.
All donations (net of operating expenses) will be donated to the San Francisco Community Music Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high quality music education free of charge to children and adults of all socioeconomic backgrounds.

Andrew Chen is a graduate from the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied piano with Betty Woo and violin with Dan Flanagan. Before college, Andrew resided in Taiwan for seven years, studying piano with Joyce Pei-Hsun Hsieh and violin with Vincent Chao. At UC Berkeley, he performed solo piano recitals at the Women’s Faculty Club and Hertz Hall, and participated in masterclasses with pianists Richard Goode and Shai Wosner. After graduation, Andrew won second place at the MTAC Piano Solo Competition and participated in the International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York, performing in masterclasses with pianists including Vladimir Valjarevic, Nina Tichman, and Sean Chen. In February 2020, he performed in a masterclass with pianist Ruth Slenczynska following his participation in the US Open Music Competition. He is currently involved in the UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra as a pianist and violinist and will be performing Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G with the ensemble in the upcoming concert season.
Andrew also enjoys composing and has written several pieces for solo piano and chamber music. His “Fantasy” for solo piano won second prize in the 2020 Pacific Musical Composition Competition, as well as first prize in the 2020 MTAC Composers Today State Contest.
