Piedmont Piano Company is pleased to present
Manny Moka
and The Band On Fire
Manny Moka & The Band On Fire returns to Piedmont Piano Company with another all-star ensemble including Steffen Kuehn, Erik Jekabson, Charlie Keagle, and Wayne Wallace in the horn section, and David Frazier, Colin Douglas, & Dave Rokeach handling drums & percussion. Joel Landsberg is taking a moment from his busy touring schedule to come out here and play bass. As if that weren't enough, Nicolas Bearde will sing a few tunes and pianist Socorro de Castro (the Moka Loca) will play a few of her originals with the band as well. All in all, it sure sounds like music will happen.

Brooklyn-born Manny Moka (mannymoka.com) got his initial musical inspirations from older cousins who were already adept at the piano. He showed an aptitude for being able to pick out melodies he heard and play them on his toy piano at the age of 3. He started informal classical studies a few years later, but was always influenced by the popular and jazz music that permeated the fabric of multi-cultural New York City. By the time he entered college, he was committed to being a professional musician, eventually relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area. After many years as an independent recording producer, arranger, and side-man, Manny finally put together a project of his own focusing on latin and funk grooves and featuring the finest Bay Area players, many of whom are bandleaders in their own right. His 2 CDs on lamp88 records have garnered critical acclaim. Manny has also been known to sunlight as the manager of the Piedmont Piano Company, Norman Landsberg.
