DYNAMIC was founded by Paul Kim when he moved to Copenhagen from San Francisco. The group assembles seven active jazz pros from all around Copenhagen, each with their own voice and independent projects. The resulting combination of talents bridges genres and epochs into an exciting synthesis.
The repertoire is progressive jazz, cool arrangements in close harmony with a funky San Francisco twist. Some people get associations to Manhattan Transfer but DYNAMIC has developed their own unique style and sound, playing with different combinations of instruments and voices, acappella sound, vocal blends and solo singing. DYNAMIC's current repertoire revisits the Giants of Jazz with original vocal arrangements of instrumental songs by, among others, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie and Billy Strayhorn. The band also writes and performs original tunes written by the members.
DYNAMIC plays in many venues, clubs and festivals, including the Copenhagen Jazz Festival each year, and is in the process of recording their debut album. dynamicjazz.dk
