1968 Hamburg Steinway Model C

This fine instrument was owned by the noted American concert pianist John Browning, and was purchased from his estate after his death in 2003. Browning along with Van Cliburn was one of the most prominent American pianists of the last half of the 20th century and is known for his many important recordings during the period. This piano is one of two Hamburg built model Cs he owned, the other is in the home of one of our local customers. It is veneered in a striking light walnut, with a characteristic European vertical grain. Overall it is in fine condition and retains its original ivory keys. As expected, the tone is sublime. The "small concert" model C is rarely seen in the US. A rare opportunity to acquire a world class, historically important piano. Size 7ft. 5in. serial no. 405320.
