1906 Steinway A

This remakable piano has been in the same family since it was purchased new, on May 10, 1906 from Steinway & Sons by Mr. & Mrs. Russell Hawkins, the great grandparents of the current owners. It was delivered to their flat at the Graham Court Apartments, a new (opened in 1901, and still standing today) and very fashionable building at 116th St. and 7th Ave. in New York City. After some years they moved to Tillamook, Oregon and later back to York, Pennsylvania where in the hands of the next generation the Steinway underwent some rennovation in 1951. It stayed in York until 1998 when it was moved West to Marin County north of San Francisco and its fourth generation of family ownership. After 110 years in the family has now asked us to find the treasured Steinway a new and loving home. The piano survives in surprisingly good condition including its original ivory keys that look just like new. It has a lovely tone and performs well but a full restoration would make the piano a true showpiece and prospective buyers should contact Callahan Piano Service to explore this possibility. Included with the piano are copies of the original bill of sale and interesting family documents detailing its history. Size 6ft. 2in. Serial number #120262.
